Blog EntryIntroducing: Dodong IIIJan 27, '07 6:45 PM
for everyone

Today I had the chance to watch the new Dodong (Janvier Daily) perform (in the fantastic show, Zsazsa Zaturnnah, Ze Muzikal!) and it was definitely a new experience for me. For one thing, the cast acted (or should I say, performed) differently with him than they do with Arnold (Reyes) and Lauren (Novero). I can't help but feel that they were giving this newcomer all the support he needed to be able to do his character well. This is good, by the way.

In as far as physique is concerned, he definitely has the noodles! This young Gardo look-alike definitely has the gals and the gays drooling. And, yes, he can dance very well! Singing, though, is another thing. I think he will benefit from voice lessons. He can carry a tune, but he has difficulty sustaining his notes, particularly at the high ones. As for his acting ... very raw, yet very sincere. This is just my opinion, of course, but I think he was well suited for the role. He was definitely your probinsiyanong "boy next door", complete with accent and pagka-religioso. I found his characterization charming and was a gust of fresh air.

I especially liked the fact that in the kissing scene with Ada, he did not end the kiss until the scene actually ended and the lights dimmed. As a matter of fact, he even waited a few seconds after before pulling back slowly. This, more than anything else, impressed me. That he could be professional enough to know that this is just a job and does not reflect on him as a person and can do the demands of the job with no qualms. Kudos! And, if I may say ... kilig! hehehe

If Direk Chris and company decides to keep him for the next run, I hope he will take the time for voice lessons. I would definitely look forward to watching him perform again, if only to see how much he would have grown from today 'til then.
